I wrote this while we were both still drinkers. We've both been sober for about 4 years now. Love Drunk is about how intoxicating a new love interest can be. It's all consuming. You're slurring and stammering and doing silly things just to be noticed. I think I wrote it after our first night as entertainment at the State Fair of Texas. It became a hit amongst the crowds and sold a lot of fishbowls for the vendor that hired us.
lyrics
I want to undo
all of your buttons
tear your blue shirt to the floor
I want to let you
tell me sweet nothings
apple of my eye
you shake me to the very core
yeah you do
yeah you do
you got me you got me
dancing in the kitchen
I'm dangling like bait for your love I am fishing
and you got me wearing french perfume
watching you cross rooms
doing stupid silly things all for you
all for you
cause I'm love drunk again, oh oh
one too many of those gin-soaked grins
you're a stiff tall glass that I shouldn't drink but I can't put you down
love won't let me love won't let me love won't let me think
about anybody else except you
only you
you
sauntering swaying the music is playing
there's sunshine outside but I would sing if it was raining
cause
you're my glass of long island iced tea
fill my cup up c'mon let's drink to you and me
you and me
oh to each their own
but you'll never own me
so be with me to be with me
and not just cause you're lonely
cause I've got a glass slipper in my head
and a glass ceiling hanging above it
let's break through
me and you
cause I'm love drunk again, oh oh
one too many of those gin-soaked grins
you're a stiff tall glass that I shouldn't drink but I can't put you down
love won't let me love won't let me love won't let me think
about anybody else except you
you
only you
you
only you
you
